UC Receives more than $84 million in private support

The University of Cincinnati received more than $84 million in private support in fiscal year 2006 (ended June 30, 2006). Gift totals included gifts from private donors as well as non-government research grants and supported a variety of initiatives including scholarships, endowed chairs, academic centers, student activities and community partnerships. New gift commitments increased over FY'05 by 4%.  

 

Major gifts in FY’06  included a $30 million gift from the Craig and Frances Lindner and Carl H. and Edyth Lindner Jr. families to support the HOPE Center, a $2 million commitment from Ira Abramson, Jr., MD, to support pediatric ophthalmology, and a $2 million gift from the Marge and Charles J. Schott Foundation to support Varsity Village athletic facilities.

 

Gifts from corporations and foundations included an in-kind software gift from Oracle to the College of Applied Science.

UC’s microchip training includes innovative VR

To build a virtual microchip factory, University of Cincinnati doctoral students turned to the real one where they work. UC launched a new training program for microchip manufacturing in advance of the new fabrication plant Intel Corp. is opening in Ohio.
