DAAP Designs to Receive National Recognition
The University of Cincinnatis internationally recognized College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning will be represented by three award-winning designs in the December 2006 issue of Graphic Design USA.
Included in the magazines annual awards issue will be three designs by Kristin Cullen, assistant professor of graphic design. Specific projects to be featured will be
- the 2005-2006 DAAP Lecture Series poster
- the 2006 DAAPWorks poster (DAAPWorks is the colleges annual, end-of-year exhibit of student works.)
- Layout Workbook: A Real World Guide to Creating Powerful Pieces (Rockport Publishers)
Cullen, who for years worked at award-winning Chicago design firms before joining DAAP, designed all of these works and also authored the Layout Workbook. Assisting her with the DAAPWorks poster was graphic design co-op student Robin Mattis, currently a senior set to graduate in June 2007.
A panel of working professionals from throughout the U.S. served as the judges for the 2006 American Graphic Design Awards, to be featured in Graphic Design USA.

A 2011 graduate of design, UC alum Charley Hudak has seen his career trajectory go from intern to creative director for Tiger Woods' new athletic footwear brand, Sun Day Red. While he may run with the biggest cat in golf, Hudak doesn't forget his Bearcat roots and comes back each summer to teach youth about footwear design at DAAP Camps.
Free Wi-Fi, work area coming to Greater Cincinnati

St. Lawrence Park in Price Hill now has free Wi-Fi and a furnished outdoor space for community members to access digital needs. The space is part of The Nodes Project, which stands for “Neighborhoods of Design Engagement": a collaboration between UC DAAP communication designers and community entities.
