Flag Plaza Dedication Held at UC Clermont College

In an Oct. 4 ceremony, UC Clermont College dedicated its flag plaza and raised the United States, Ohio and University of Cincinnati colors for the first time.

The UC Army ROTC performed the ceremonial protocol while 70 members of the West Clermont Institute of Performing Arts Concert Choir and the West Clermont Marching Band Battery sang and played the National Anthem.

U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt presented a U.S. flag and Ohio State Senator Tom Niehaus, Ohio State Representatives Danny R. Bubp and Joseph W. Uecker jointly presented an Ohio state flag that was flown over the capitol in Columbus.

Dean David H. Devier quoted President Woodrow Wilson who proclaimed the first Flag Day in 1916.
This flag, which we honor and under which we serve, is the emblem of our unity, our power, our thought and purpose as a nation. It has no other character than that which we give it from generation to generation. ... Though silent, it speaks to us speaks to us of the past, of the men and women who went before us, and of the records they wrote upon it. - Woodrow Wilson
