CCM Seeks Hundreds of Pajamas for 'The Pajama Game'
Calling all sleepshirts, nighties and dressing robes: CCM wants you!
In preparation for its Mainstage production of the musical theater classic, The Pajama Game (November 16-19), the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is conducting a pajama casting call by requesting donations of new and used sleepwear. The donated pieces will be incorporated into the musical's closing sequence where, according to scenic designer Thomas Umfrid, a plethora of pajamas will be hung across the Corbett Auditorium stage.
The goal is to collect at least 300 garments--150 each of women's and men's. CCM will accept pajamas of all types: children's and adult, footed to floaty, satin and flannel. Tops and bottoms can be contributed as sets or individually. Though buttons, snaps and ties need not be functional, the nightwear should be clean and in good condition without any obvious tears, rips or discoloring. Bold and zesty colors in solids, plaids and prints are ideal, though whites and pastels are welcome.
To donate your pajamas for CCM's production of The Pajama Game, please contact costume designer Reba Senske: (513) 556-6125 or rebecca.senske@uc.edu. Pajamas may also be dropped off 12 p.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday at the CCM Box Office, CCM Village, University of Cincinnati. Visit the CCM Web site for directions and information: www.ccm.uc.edu. Deadline for donations is Friday, November 3.
About The Pajama Game
Winner of the 2006 Tony Award for "Best Revival of a Musical,"
The Pajama Game
is a much-loved favorite from the "golden age" of Broadway. Flirtation flourishes at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory between a fiery female union leader and a handsome new foreman. Though a looming employee strike shakes up their workplace romance, love's charms soon melt all hearts, giving way to a happy ending. This delightful musical effervesces with memorable standards like "Hey There," "Steam Heat" and "Hernando's Hideaway." Musical Theater Department Chair Aubrey Berg directs, with musical direction by Roger Grodsky and choreography by Diane Lala.
