Clermont Cougars Volleyball Team Celebrates Regional Championship, National Tournament Ranking and All-Conference Honors

The UC Clermont Cougars Volleyball Team cap off a successful season as the 2006 Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) West Division Champions. The Lady Cougars dominated the West Division with an 8-0 record.  They also earned an invitation to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament in Ft. Wayne, Ind., where they finished in fifth place.

“We set the national championship tournament as a goal at the beginning of the season,” said UC Clermont College Coach Joe Harpring. “I’m extremely proud of these players.  They worked hard both during the season and in the off-season to earn this invitation.  It is a great honor for the program and will be a memorable experience for these young women,” Harpring said.

Four Cougars were also named to the All-Conference first team (as voted by opposing ORCC coaches).

• Kelley Koons #17 (Freshman Middle Hitter from Miamisburg H.S.) - Most Valuable Player
• Lauren Biel #1 (Sophomore Libero from Lakota West H.S.) - First Team
• Jane McFadden #9 (Junior Middle Hitter from Turpin H.S.) - First Team
• Whitney Brown #2 (Junior Outside Hitter from Williamsburg H.S.) - First Team

Brown won her third consecutive first team honor and McFadden registered her second. Koons was also named Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 4-11 by the USCAA.
