Looking at Jazz: America s Art Form

 Looking at Jazz: America’s Art Form will be offered at UC Clermont College this winter quarter. This program is being sponsored through Jazz at Lincoln Center by Clermont County Public Library and UC.

 

While the program is free and open to the community, UC students will be able to also attend and earn three fine arts credits for the class.  Classes will be held at UC Clermont College’s Krueger Auditorium and will include lectures, performances, readings of works by scholars and discussions on the history of America’s beloved art form. This series will be taught by Jeremy Long an accomplished saxophonist, professor, and composer.

 

• January 11: New Orleans: The Birthplace of Jazz

• January 18: The Jazz Age and the 1920s

• January 25: The Women of Jazz

• February 1: The Jazz Swing Era

• February 8: Jazz Innovators: From Bebop, to Hard Bop to Cool and More

• February 15: Latin Jazz

• Final Exam: March 15 (for credited class only)

Time: 6:30 –9:10 p.m.
