UC Clermont Art Gallery Features Burnet Woods Pond Series Photographs by Wayne Durrill

University of Cincinnati history professor Wayne Durrill’s photographic work -  Burnet Woods Pond Series will be featured in the UC Clermont College Art Gallery from March 19- 30.

The photographs in this series were taken in Burnet Woods Park in the Clifton neighborhood of Cincinnati in 2006 and 2007 and seek to reinterpret the romantic idiom in which the park was laid out for a postmodern age.

“I have been working on this project for about a year in order to capture changes in the pond over the course of all four seasons.  It is not only the seasonal changes, however, that make this work interesting, but daily changes that produce an amazing variety of views from a single small body of water,” said Durrill.

Durrill’s work has been included in four juried shows around the country.  This is his first solo exhibition.

‘These photographs also serve as a kind of natural vanitas, emphasizing the fleeting and inevitable passage of time, as well as the shortness of life and certainty of death and decay,’ said Durrill.

The UC Clermont Art Gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and located in the Snyder Building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. 6 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
