UC Clermont Celebrates National Poetry Month

UC Clermont will host a Performance Poetry Event on Wednesday, April 4 in the Student Lounge from noon-1:30 p.m. Three nationally recognized performance poets from Columbus will participate - Scott Woods, Donielle Monique and Vernell Bristow.

 

The event is free and open to the community and sponsored by UC Clermont's Arts Advisory Council, Diversity Task Force Committee and the Student Activities Council. 

 

Featured poets:

Scott Woods, author and editor of more than nine books, has published in a variety of publications, and has been featured multiple times on National Public Radio. He is the president of Poetry Slam Inc., emcees an open mic series, and was the Columbus representative at the 2005 Individual World Poetry Slam.  In April of 2006 he became the only poet to ever complete a 24-hour poetry reading.

Donielle Monique read her first poem in public eight years ago at the Writers' Block Poetry Night in Columbus and has been attending ever since. She was a member of the 2006 Columbus National Poetry Slam Team, in which she was also the Writers' Block Grand Slam Champion. She was also a member of the 2006 Rust Belt Regional Slam Team, which took third place. She recently just released her first CD, "Some Days I Am"

  Vernell Bristow is the co-founder of the Writers' Block Poetry Night in Columbus. She was a member of the 2006 Columbus National Poetry Slam Team and a member of the 2006 Rust Belt Regional Slam Team which took third place. Website:

UC Clermont baseball team wins second national title

The University of Cincinnati Clermont College men’s baseball team has taken first place in the 2024 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series. The Cougars defeated four-time national champion Penn State Dubois to claim the program’s second title and first since 2013.
