Items from Grannys Closet by Artist Benjamin Entner Featured in UC Clermont Art Gallery May 2 26

Brockport, N.Y. native Benjamin Entner brings his show - Items from Grannys Closet - to UC Clermont College's Art Gallery from May 2-26, 2007.

Granny Pantys for My Ex-Girlfriend and Under Covers (Grannys Flower Patch) will be featured in this exhibit.

Entner calls his art reactive and is a result of his curious nature.  “I respond to the people, places, and things around me and present to the viewer a curiosity, a reaction, or the results of an experiment”, said Entner who is formally trained as a sculptor and received his Master of Fine Arts at Syracuse University.

Join Entner for his artist presentations on May 2 at 9 and 10 a.m. in the art gallery.

Through a diversity of practices, mediums, and ideas, Entner creates works that are the result of play or experimentation, and/or are self-reflective of the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

“In my artwork, often, I want to make my viewers conscious of themselves.  I try to accomplish this by creating a presence of an object or installations that interrupts or intervenes in a viewers passive viewing of a piece, and forces them to actively experience it,” said Entner.

He is conceptually and technically drawn to a multidisciplinary studio practice that involves video, installation, performance, drawing, sound, and painting... as well as the traditional modes of three-dimensional art, most especially wood-working.  "My work is driven by ideas or curiosities and I simply try to find the best tools to address them," he said.

The Clermont Art Gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. 7 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. 5 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public
