The second-annual MainStreet Stride brought out 700 people, including members of the Bearcat Band, UC cheerleaders and dozens of UC offices and organizations to show off their red-and-black spirit on a march through the heart of campus.
The May 18 parade also involved some friendly competition, as Governmental Relations and University Communications Vice President Greg Vehr, former Student Body President Jerry Tsai and One Stop University Service Associate Suzie Orr judged the represented groups from the third-floor balcony of Tangeman University Center.
At the conclusion of the MainStreet Stride on Sigma Sigma Commons, the location of the cookout kicking off UC Alumni Weekend, UC President Nancy L. Zimpher revealed the stand-out foot parade entries. The UC Womens Soccer Team was awarded most creative entry; the Sigma Sigma honorary fraternity was awarded best team effort; the UC College of Business took honors for the best showing of UC Pride and the UC Office of Admissions was honored with the Presidents Choice Award for best use of black and red.
