DAAP graduate Kate Holterhoff Presents 'Pertinent Qualities' Exhibit in UC Clermont Gallery

Kate Holterhoff will host her first solo exhibit in the UC Clermont Art Gallery a year after graduating from the UC College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. Pertinent Qualities – Hoelterhoff’s oil on canvas paintings will be on display from August 2-29.

Please join the artist for her reception on 8/3/07 from 6-9 p.m.

“I have adopted a manner of rendering contemporary portraits that harnesses the most pertinent qualities of classical figural compositions, while eliminating the baggage of organic realism. This mode emphasizes Greenbergian Formalism, complementary color combinations, an obsessive attention to value and a non-traditional integration of the figure into space,” said Holterhoff.

Holterhoff has received numerous awards and accolades including: 2007 Carl Mills/ Edward Miles Brown Prize for Outstanding Senior at UC where she graduated Magna Cum Laude; 2006 Taft Undergraduate Enrichment Award, Charles Phelps Taft Research Center; 2006 Honorable Mention, “Ohio All-Media Art Competition,” Coburn Gallery at Ashland University; 2006 Student Globalization Grant, UC Institute for Global Studies and Affairs; 2006 Three Arts Scholarship, Three Arts Scholarship Fund, Inc., Lebanon and the 2002-03 Wolfstein Scholarship, DAAP.

The UC Clermont Art Gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and is located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Summer gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public
