UC Clermont Offers Wide Array of Classes at Milford Outreach Site

Residents of Milford and Miami Township have access to college courses and training programs just around the corner at UC Clermont’s outreach site in the Park 50 TechneCenter.
 
During fall quarter, 23 credit courses and 12 different training programs will meet at the Business and Educational Outreach center conveniently located at 502 TechneCenter Drive off I-275. 
 
Programs range from computer training to master’s level education courses:  

• UC Clermont associate level courses include Preparatory Math, Substance Abuse in American Society, Introduction to Criminal Justice and American History to 1820.  The courses meet one evening per week. 

• Park 50 also is an outreach site for the College of Business, McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services.   

• Teachers can take Classroom Management for graduate credit in a course meeting one afternoon per week. 

• Paralegal courses meet one evening per week with Advanced Legal Research and Legal Ethics scheduled for fall quarter.   

• Students completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration attend daytime courses in marketing/management and accounting/finance without having to drive to the Uptown campus.   

• Criminal justice students have a wide array of evening courses offered, including Psychology of Criminal Behavior, Survey of Criminology, White-Collar Crime and Police Effectiveness offered at Park 50. 

• Writing for Business is a course from Arts and Sciences designed for business majors and current employees who want to learn to write more clearly and succinctly.  

• UC Clermont training seminars are designed with professionals in mind.  During fall quarter, daytime programs will be offered in Customer Service, Referral Marketing Strategies, Technology Trends, and Making Meetings Work.  Computer training is scheduled for Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD.  Criminal justice professionals also have one-day state-mandated training offered on nine dates during the quarter.

UC alum credits journalism program with early success

Zachary Jarrell came to the University of Cincinnati in 2019 to pursue a degree in statistics. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. For many undergraduates, the journey through college rarely takes the expected track. Detours happen, and majors change. When plans switch up, it can be helpful to a student’s success to find support. For Jarrell, it was the people he worked alongside in the journalism department who helped him on his journey. It has left a lasting impression on his life so far, guiding him to multiple internships as an undergraduate, real-world experience in prominent news outlets, and eventually a successful career in the highly competitive field of journalism.
