UC Grad Student Presents 'Lost & Found' Exhibit in UC Clermont Gallery

Michael Willett’s exhibit, “Lost & Found” will be featured in UC Clermont College’s Art Gallery from September 4-22.

Willett earned his bachelor in fine arts at the University of Montevallo in Alabama. He is currently enrolled in the masters of fine arts program at UC.

“I have always believed in creating art with an extensive perspective towards working in both abstraction and realism, often simultaneously. I have found humans generally experience ordinary everyday life, without taking the time to enjoy the abstracted or intangible states of beauty that surround us all. The body of paintings for ‘Lost & Found’ functions as a visual analogy encompassing the notion of innocence,” said Willett.

The artist will hold his reception on September 21 from 12-2 p.m.

Some of Willett’s previous exhibitions include: 2007 M.C.A. 24th Annual Contemporary Arts Festival, Birmingham, 2006 The Human Condition, B.F.A.  Solo Exhibition, Montevallo, Raise The Voice, Crisis Center Rape Response Art Fundraiser, Birmingham and The Tower, Juried Art and Literature Publication, Montevallo.

Willett’s list of honors include: 2007- University Graduate Portfolio Scholarship Award, University of Cincinnati, 2006- Dr. Virginia Pitts Rembert Lilies Art Award, University of Montevallo, Overall Most Outstanding Artist Award, University of Montevallo, Overall Excellence in Painting Award, University of Montevallo, President’s List, Spring 2006, 2002- Joan Gregory Scholarship, University of Montevallo and National Merit of the Arts Nominee.

The UC Clermont Art Gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and is located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Summer gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
