Twenty-One Sets of Twins (and One Set of Triplets) Boost Incoming Class at UC

Amid the record-setting incoming class of 4,150 first-time students coming to the University of Cincinnati’s main campus this fall, a special handful will easily find a familiar face in the crowds.

That’s because 21 sets of twins and one set of triplets are part of that incoming class.

One of the triplets, Jacquelyn Flannery, 18, of Anderson Township, echoed a theme when she explained that the decision by her and her fellow triplets to attend UC “just happened because the university had the programs we wanted.” She added, “We all looked at different schools, but UC had what we were all looking for. It’s surprising even for us that we’re all going to be going to the same school.”

She and her sister, Jillian, won’t actually room together though they will be a few doors from one another in UC’s Siddall Hall, while brother Jonathan will be a short walk away in Calhoun Hall.

Same goes for twins Miriam and Nathan Siegel of Hyde Park. While they’ll share the same undergraduate major (psychology), they’ve opted for different living arrangements. Miriam will live on campus in Daniels Hall while Nathan lives in an off-campus house. But Miriam sees that as a double-plus for her. “I’ll have my own room on campus, participate in campus life and make friends there, but I’ll also have my own bedroom in the house where my brother will live. So, we’ll have time together, but I’ll also be on my own a bit more,” she stated.

Meanwhile, twins Brandon and Joshua Eder of West Chester will room together in the University Park Apartments adjacent to campus. Brandon admitted that before he and his brother both decided on UC, he was actually looking forward – just a little bit – to going to a separate college than his twin. Said Brandon, “We weren’t actually that enthusiastic about going to school together. I thought maybe it was time to break away on my own a bit, but UC’s industrial design program is tops in the nation so I knew I was going to try for that program. Then, Josh decided UC was where he wanted to go to school, too.”

But now that they are both coming to UC, they are looking forward to rooming together and remaining close. Said Josh, “We get along well together. I’ll have my best friend there with me at UC. If I ever need someone to talk to, my brother will be right there.”

Jameela Aladimi said the same regarding her twin, Ameera. The two, of Beavercreek, Ohio, are going to room together in Siddall Hall and will be in some of the same classes together since they’re pursuing the same degree (pre-pharmacy) in preparation for the same career. Said Jameela, “We’ve always shared a room. Now, with the same major, we’ll be able to be study buddies. My best friend will always be right there.”

Below is a sampling of UC’s first-year twins and triplets who will begin their college careers this year.

UC alum credits journalism program with early success

June 26, 2024

Zachary Jarrell came to the University of Cincinnati in 2019 to pursue a degree in statistics. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. For many undergraduates, the journey through college rarely takes the expected track. Detours happen, and majors change. When plans switch up, it can be helpful to a student’s success to find support. For Jarrell, it was the people he worked alongside in the journalism department who helped him on his journey. It has left a lasting impression on his life so far, guiding him to multiple internships as an undergraduate, real-world experience in prominent news outlets, and eventually a successful career in the highly competitive field of journalism.
