UC Clermont s Students Take First-Place Honors in Respiratory Care Competition

At the 20th Annual Ohio Society for Respiratory Care State Meeting in Columbus,  UC Clermont College students competed in the Sputum Bowl - and came home with the first place trophy.

“The Sputum Bowl can be compared to the old College Bowl that was on television years ago where different colleges compete in academics.  On a popular level it would be like Jeopardy based on a student’s knowledge of respiratory science,” said Michael Mullarkey, assistant professor of respiratory care.

UC Clermont College’s second-year student team won the state championship beating Cincinnati State in the final round.  The members of the winning team are Jodi Conover of Batavia, Jason Ousley of Williamsburg, Jessica Young of Fairfield and alternate Tonya Toadvine of Batavia.

“This was the first year that we have had a team participate in this competition so we are doubly proud of their accomplishment,” said Mullarkey.
