Times Now Known for Homecoming 2007 Events

With Homecoming weekend less than two weeks away, times can now be attached to the big day’s itinerary of events.

The Big East Conference and ESPN have agreed upon a 7 p.m. kickoff time on Saturday, Oct. 13 for the Homecoming football game between UC and Louisville. That means a full day of campus activity and fun, with major events beginning at 1 p.m.

The schedule for the day’s biggest events includes:

  • 1 p.m. – UC Alumni Association Welcome Tent opens, Clifton Avenue
  • 3 p.m. – Homecoming Parade begins, moving down Clifton Avenue and onto Martin Luther King Boulevard
  • 4 p.m. – Carnival in Tangeman University Center, Bearcat Blitz at Myers Alumni Center open
  • 4:30 p.m. – Cattitude at Varsity Village and Bearcats Family Zone open
  • 6:30 p.m. – Cattitude at Varsity Village, Bearcats Family Zone and Bearcat Blitz close
  • 7 p.m. – Kickoff at Nippert Stadium

The game will be telecast on ESPNU.

UC lab-on-a-chip devices take public health into home

University of Cincinnati engineers created a new device to help doctors diagnose depression and anxiety. The “lab-on-a-chip” device measures the stress hormone cortisol from a patient’s saliva. Knowing if a patient has elevated stress hormones can provide useful diagnostic information even if patients do not report feelings of anxiety, stress or depression in a standard mental health questionnaire.
