CCM's Fall Dance Concert Spotlights New Choreography, New Music Nov. 30-Dec. 2

Creative artists in music and movement at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) join forces for

CCM’s Fall Dance Concert

, taking place

Nov. 30 through Dec. 2

in CCM’s Patricia Corbett Theater.

The program features original choreography by dance division head

Shellie Cash

to a new musical composition,

Canticles for a Sacred Earth

, by CCM professor

Miguel Roig-Francolí

. Titled

Meditation on Design

, Cash's piece was inspired by a poem of the same name by Seattle-based writer Janée Braugher as well as Roig-Francolí’s music.

Meditation on Design

uses the language of modern dance to explore what happens when nature’s delicate balance is skewed by the actions of man.

Also featured is a combination of classical, jazzy and sensual dance selections:

Reflections of Autumn

, a new work by associate professor

Jiang Qi

;

The Dying Swan

, choreographed by

Michael Fokine

and restaged by associate professor

Yi-Qi Cheng

; the grand

pas de deux

from the 1858 ballet

Le Corsaire

(“The Pirate”), with choreography by

Marius Petipa

, also restaged by

Cheng

; and

Jazz Sweet

, a new work choreographed by guest artists

Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini

of Dance Now! Miami.
