Clough Pike Elementary Students Bring Monet s Garden to Life in the UC Clermont Art Gallery
In a tribute to Claude Monet, Clough Pike Elementary students three-dimensionally recreated Monets Garden at Giverny in the UC Clermont College Art Gallery. Students, first fifth grades, bring Monets Garden to life with murals, trees, butterflies, insects and a walking bridge.
Meet the young artists at their reception Tuesday, February 12, from 5-8 p.m.
"This was a great team-building experience for the kids. They learned about the artist and even picked up a few French greetings as we created the exhibit, said Clough Pike Art Teacher Debbie Downie.
Downies approach to art is that it is basic and essential to the education of all students, as all human kind has a need to create. Art reflects mankind and its cultural impact on civilization. It is a system by which people communicate, acquire and express their understanding. Through cognitive and sensory experiences, art represents various forms of thinking, ways of knowing, and participation in the world.
