College of Law Welcomes In Class of 2011

The University of Cincinnati College of Law welcomed an incoming class of 123 new students as it opened the 2008-09 academic year with the first official full day of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

The college’s 176th year got underway last week, with introductory courses to help prepare the new students for the law school experience, as well as one-week intensive short course offerings for returning students. The UC College of Law is on a semester system, which is why its academic calendar is different from other units at the university.

The new class continues the college’s strong tradition of excellence and diversity among its student ranks.

The Class of 2011 features students from 68 different undergraduate institutions, and the average age of the students is 25. Twenty different states are represented in the class, along with two foreign countries, China and Japan. Sixty-five percent of the class are Ohio residents, with another 10 percent hailing from Northern Kentucky.

The 2008-09 academic year for the college runs through May 10, 2009, when the college will host its annual Hooding Ceremony, where the Class of 2009 will graduate.
