Save the Date for Ohio Prevention and Education Conference
A call for proposals is underway for the Ohio Prevention and Education Conference. The theme for the November conference is "A Healthy Ohio: Together Everyone Achieves More."
The conference will take place Nov. 18-20 at the Crown Plaza North in Columbus, Ohio. The goal for OPEC 2008 is to revitalize and build on the existing capacity of Ohios prevention workforce to enhance the delivery of evidence-based prevention strategies in the places where people work, live, learn, and play.
We invite you to come and learn to utilize new information and skills to empower others (individuals, organizations, professional associations and groups) to deliver evidence-based prevention strategies. A variety of workshops will be presented on topics such as, FASD, evidence-based strategies, suicide prevention, depression, outcomes planning, effective learning supports, bullying, crisis management, stigma reduction, injury prevention, supporting veterans, youth-led prevention, cultural competence, and many more!

The conference is coordinated by the Ohio Resource Network (ORN), which is housed in UC's College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. The ORN provides training and resource materials for safe and drug-free school programs across Ohio. The ORN is funded by state grants that come in through the University of Cincinnati.
