CCM Student Remembered at Benefit Recital Oct. 18

The Preparatory Department of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music ("CCM Prep") is proud to announce details for the Gino DiMario Memorial Scholarship Faculty Recital, an event featuring performances by some of the finest area music teachers and musicians. The recital will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at the home of Don and Donna Hoffman in Glendale.

Gino DiMario was four-and-a-half years old when he began taking lessons in the CCM Preparatory Department's Suzuki Piano program. Gino loved music and his activities at CCM Prep. He died tragically on Feb. 19, 2005, after performing in his first CCM Concerto Competition. In his memory, a scholarship fund has been created. The fund is intended to award students who show the determination, commitment and creativity that Gino embodied. This year, up to four awards in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to CCM Prep music students.

The recital will feature Katherine Cinelli and Dawna Ferguson, violas; Kevin Ebert and Rodney Stucky, guitars; Galit Gertzenson, piano; and Margaret Ozaki-Graves, voice, Diana Gipson, clarinet, and Takako Hayase, piano, performing Schubert's "Shepherd on the Rock." Flutist Betty Douglas will be featured in a contemporary solo composed by CCM Prep faculty member Ellen Harrison.
