CCM's Fall Dance Concert Fuses Classic and Contemporary Styles Dec. 5-7

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Dance Division’s 2008 Fall Dance Concert features an invigorating blend of romantic, classical, contemporary and jazz styles Dec. 5-7 in CCM’s Patricia Corbett Theater.

The performance features four pieces, including a new work by visiting guest artist Hannah Baumgarten of the Dance Now! Ensemble (Miami, Fla.). Entitled “Invisible Cities—the sacred cult of beauty,” this sultry and dynamic jazz-on-pointe suite is choreographed to music by Nine Inch Nails and Doumé Castanet.

The program also presents classical and romantic ballets restaged by CCM faculty, including the “Grand Pas de Quatre” by Suzette Boyer-Webb after Anton Dolin, with music composed by Cesare Pugni; “Paquita” by Deirdre Carberry after Petipa, with music by Ludwig Minkus; and an untitled contemporary ballet piece by Michael Tevlin set to Dvorak’s Piano Trio Opus 90.
