Niehoff Elected Trustee Chair

H. C. Buck Niehoff was unanimously elected chair of the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees on Jan. 27.

Niehoff is Of Counsel at the law firm of Peck, Shaffer & Williams LLC, and serves as co-chair for UC’s “Proudly Cincinnati” fund-raising campaign. He succeeds Jeffrey L. Wyler, who had served as chair of the Trustees for two years.

He was chair of the steering committee for the Cincinnati area for the $325 million Campaign for the University of Cincinnati. In 2002 he was elected emeritus trustee of the Foundation. Since 1997 he and his wife Patti have sponsored an annual "Evening with a Great Teacher," which highlights outstanding faculty members of the University.

Niehoff is also involved with Republican politics and has been a delegate or alternate delegate to three national conventions. He was chairman of the Hamilton County Republican Party and of the Finance Committee of the Party. He has served on the Ohio Parks and Recreation Advisory Council, the Ohio Bicentennial Commission and the Ohio Elected Officials Compensation Commission. Active in numerous community organizations, he is chair of the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati Museum Center and a member of the boards of the Corporation for Findlay Market, Cincinnati Country Day School, Ohio Cancer Research Associates, Ohio Humanities Council, Architectural Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, the Foundation of the Hamilton Country Public Library, and the Mercantile Library.

Elected vice-chair is Sandra Heimann, vice president of American Financial, vice president of American Money Management, and Great American Insurance Company. C. Francis Barrett, president and founding member of the downtown Cincinnati law firm of Barrett & Weber, was elected secretary.
