Miller has dedicated much of his time to clean water efforts. He serves on the board of the Ohio River Basin Consortium for Research and Education, Friends of the Great Miami, Oxbow Inc. and Mill Creek Watershed Council of Communities.

He also works with Ohio River Foundation, volunteers regularly with Saturday Stream Snapshot and has served as president and board member of the Ohio Lakes Management Society.

“Clean waters and watershed scale planning for water use and reuse are my passion,” Miller says. “The generous award by Rivers Unlimited will allow me to better promote issues of clean water, responsible environmental management of river watersheds and riparian zones, and green infrastructure to infiltrate and evapotranspirate runoff water rather than send it down CSOs and our rivers untreated.”

The award was established this year to honor individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of passion and commitment to protect and restore Ohio’s watersheds. Mike Fremont founded Rivers Unlimited and has advocated for watersheds for the past 40 years.

Miller will receive the award at the Gala on the River, an event hosted by Rivers Unlimited in Fernbank Park Lodge on April 18.
