Cara Hannah Sullivan, 'Saturday Night Live' Wigmaker and Hairdresser, to be Honored as UC Clermont s 2009 Distinguished Alumnus
UC Clermont College will be honoring Cara Hannah Sullivan as its 2009 Distinguished Alumnus at a luncheon on April 22 at noon in the Student Activities Center.
The luncheon will also recognize 2008-09 scholarship recipients and donors.
Cara Hannah Sullivan is a wigmaker and hairdresser for NBCs Saturday Night Live, where she creates unique and sometimes funny hairstyles in their Emmy Award-winning hair studio. An active member of IATSE Local 798, Sullivan has also styled hair for The Today Show, Late Night with Conan OBrien and Access Hollywood.
Sullivan was first introduced to the entertainment industry at UC Clermont when she and five other students requested that retired Professor Keith Marriott create an acting class. A native of Bethel, Sullivan graduated from UC Clermont in 1997 with an associate degree, and then went on Northern Kentucky University where she graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in theatre design and production. Sullivan then obtained a master of fine art in theatrical hair and makeup design at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
Sullivans professional wig and hair design work has been seen on some of the nations premier regional stages, including long stints at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Utah Shakespearean Festival. She headed to New York in 2006, where the lights of the Big Apple were calling. Sullivan got her first job on Broadway as the assistant wig supervisor for the Tony Award-winning musical, "The Producers." Since then, Sullivan has worked on several Broadway shows: "The Phantom of the Opera," "110 Degrees in the Shade," " The Pirate Queen," " Les, Miserables," " Spamalot," " The Little Mermaid," and Will Ferrells latest comedy special, "Youre Welcome, America: A Final Evening with George W. Bush." She was featured as a creative entrepreneur in The New Yorker.
