Fairhurst Earns Fulbright
Gail Fairhurst, professor of communication in McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, has received a Fulbright Award to travel to Lund University in Sweden for the month of April.
The award, a Fulbright Senior Specialists Scholarship, allows Fairhurst to collaborate with Lund professor Mats Alvesson, one of the worlds foremost researchers on managerial and leadership processes.
While abroad, she will conduct lectures and oversee workshops of leadership in their College of Business Administration. Several faculty members at the university have similar research interests in organizational discourse that make Fairhursts visit worthwhile.
While there, Ill be lecturing with students and working on joint projects, Fairhurst says. Being surrounded by a large group of graduate students and post-docs who do the same work I do is exciting. Im looking forward to learning new things.
Fairhurst received international acclaim for her recent book,
Discursive Leadership: In Conversation with Leadership Psychology
, published in 2007.
