CCM Voice Students Receive Competition Honors
Seven CCM voice students were named winners of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Musics (CCM)
2009 Opera Scholarship Competition
, which was held Saturday, April 4, in CCMs Corbett Auditorium. The annual competition welcomes current and incoming CCM voice students to compete for scholarships and cash prizes, and a panel of judges composed of opera industry professionals selects each years class of prizewinners.
The 2009 CCM Opera Scholarship Competition winners are
Hana Park
(Candidate Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the Corbett Award ($10,000)
The Corbett Award is supported by The Corbett Foundation in cooperation with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. This award also guarantees a stage audition with New York City Opera.
Michael Young
(Incoming student Master of Music in Voice)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the Seybold-Russell Award ($10,000)
The Seybold-Russell Award is supported by the Seybold-Russell Scholarship Fund in cooperation with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Abigail Santos Villalobos
(Candidate Master of Music in Voice)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the Italo Tajo Memorial Award ($10,000)
This award is supported by the Italo Tajo Memorial Scholarship Fund (established by Mr. Tajos wife, Mrs. Inelda Tajo) in cooperation with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Deborah Nansteel
(Candidate Master of Music in Voice)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the Andrew White Memorial Award ($7,500)
This award is supported by the Andrew White Memorial Scholarship Fund in cooperation with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
David Swain
(Candidate Artist Diploma in Opera)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the Artman/Straub Award ($7,500)
The Artman/Straub Award is sponsored by Neil Artman and Margaret Straub in cooperation with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Caitlin Mathes
(Candidate Artist Diploma in Opera)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the Norman Treigle Memorial Award ($5,000)
This award is supported by the Norman Treigle Memorial Fund under the auspices of New York Opera Guild, in cooperation with New York City Opera, The Corbett Foundation and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. The Treigle Scholarship is open to all graduate voice students in all vocal categories born in the United States and its possessions. This award also guarantees a stage audition with New York City Opera.
Jason Slayden
(Incoming Student Master of Music in Voice)
Prize: Full-tuition scholarship and the John Alexander Memorial Award ($5,000)
This award is sponsored by the John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund in cooperation with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
