VOTE: UC Co-op Students Are Counting on Your Vote in Statewide Cool Co-op Contest
UCs co-op pride is on the line.
More than 50 University of Cincinnati cooperative education students have entered the statewide
, with the winners receiving both recognition and prizes.
And now its time for Ohios campuses and communities to vote online for the coolest co-op jobs and students from among all the entries. Voting takes place
April 5-15
in the competition sponsored by the Ohio Cooperative Education Association.
And as the global founder of cooperative education, UC hopes to send its students to be among the 20 winners selected for recognition in Columbus this May. Winning students will also receive prizes that include digital cameras, portable hard drives, digital camcorders and portable DVD players.

AMONG THE UC ENTRIES
Below are Cool Co-op entries from UC. These students gained professional experience and pay (earning and learning) thanks to UCs premiere co-op program, which is ranked among the nations
Top Ten
by U.S. News & World Report. (Cooperative education is where students alternate quarters or semesters in the classroom with quarters or semesters of paid, professional work related directly to their majors.)
Co-op student at Stonehenge
- Architecture student Michael Benkert worked on a New Orleans project to provide affordable, sustainable housing that thanks to the involvement of Brad Pitt was featured on the Today Show, Larry King Live and other programs. As part of his work, Benkert also wrote a series of reports for Pitt and others regarding the hurricane precautions incorporated into the homes designs.
- Architecture student Charlotte Bornhorst who co-opped in Beijing, China, during the 2008 Olympics.
- Business student Daniel Larsen co-opped at NBC Universal and met stars like Courtney Cox, Felicity Huff and Justin Timberlake. Larsen was even called on stage by Jay Leno for an interview while Leno warmed up the crowd before a taping of The Tonight Show.
- Business student Ryan Prasser co-opped with Delta Air Lines and traveled the world on weekends, including visits to Ireland, Japan, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. Fellow business student Vladimir Leytus and engineering student Timothy Britt did likewise, working for Delta and traveling to, among other locales: Athens, Greece; the Caribbean and even to Stonehenge in England.
- Engineering student Jared Weitzel had a co-op with Texas Instruments, wherein the company helped find him an apartment, paid his travel expenses and welcomed him and other co-ops with a co-op kick-off party. He worked with engineering groups around the world on a high-definition cell-phone camera, and whenever he needed a break, the cool perks allowed Weitzel to play ping pong at work, exercise in the onsite gym or even get a massage from the onsite massage therapist.
