The Apple Doesn t Fall Far: Mother-daughter Exhibit Featured in UC Clermont Gallery

UC Clermont College will feature a mother-daughter exhibit titled – The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far…in the art gallery from July 2-22. 

Maggie Crabtree and Penny McGinnis will hold their reception on July 9 from 4-6 p.m. The reception is open to the community.

Crabtree studied photography while attending Ohio University and received her bachelor’s degree in commercial photography in 2003.  Capturing life on film has become her ambition.  “Photographs are what you keep to see the past, to remember who you once were,” said Crabtree who owns Maggie C. Photography and Design an on-location portraiture business based in Southwest Ohio.

McGinnis grew up in a family of artists, each using different media.  At five years old, she picked up an embroidery needle and floss and has been creating ever since.  Later, she took up quilting and eventually learned papermaking and bookmaking.  As a self-taught artist, she enjoys the trial and error of combining fabrics and papers with thread, beads and other ephemeral and bringing color to life.

The UC Clermont Art Gallery is sponsored by Park National Bank and is located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Summer gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
