WEDNESDAY: UC s Cincinnati Business Achievement Awards Recognize the Top of the Class

The

Cincinnati Business Achievement Awards

(CBAA), presented by the University of Cincinnati’s College of Business Alumni Board of Governors, is Cincinnati’s longest-standing event recognizing achievement in business and service to the community. Awards presented include Outstanding Business Achievement and Distinguished Service awards. The CBAA event takes place March 3, 2010, at the Westin Cincinnati.

Each year, the College of Business Board of Governors takes time to recognize business alumni who are making a lasting impact not just in the business community, but in the world. The 2010 awards will be no exception.

The Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement is given each year to a UC College of Business graduate who best demonstrates outstanding achievement in the field of business as represented by the recipient’s entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to business and community, and achievement of the highest level of success within one’s profession.

This year the award is being presented to two outstanding members and leaders of the global business community: Carl H. Lindner III and S. Craig Lindner, both graduates of UC’s College of Business.

Carl H. Lindner III graduated from UC with a bachelor’s of business administration in finance in 1975. Lindner is co-president and co-chief executive officer of American Financial Group, Inc.

S. Craig Lindner, graduated from UC with a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting in 1977. He is co-president and co-chief executive officer of American Financial Group, Inc.

“I’m very pleased to represent all past winners of the Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement, as well as help honor my good friends Carl Lindner III and Craig Lindner as this year’s recipients,” said CBAA Honorary Chairman John F. Barrett (UC College of Business ’71), chairman, president and CEO of Western & Southern Financial Group, and the 1999 recipient of the Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement. “This unique celebration will truly mark a memorable moment in the rich history of the College of Business by highlighting the incredible success of our honorees, as well as the enduring legacy that has been left by the Lindner family in this community.”

The CBAA Distinguished Service Award is given on the basis of an individual’s commitment to the College of Business, the University of Cincinnati as a whole, and/or the Cincinnati community. This year’s recipient is John F. Cassidy, president and CEO of Cincinnati Bell, Inc.

The Cooperative Education Partnership Award will also be given to a company that has provided substantial support to the cooperative education program at the UC College of Business. The recipient company is recognized for its significant, innovative and ongoing investment in developing exceptional business co-op students.
