Calhoun Street Closure Affects Campus Access
Calhoun Street, between Vine and Ohio streets, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, according to the Cincinnati Department of Transportation & Engineering. Weather permitting, a large crane will be installed to work on St. George church.
Closing Calhoun Street will limit access to the University of Cincinnati campus on a busy weekend. In particular:
- The Scioto Street (back) entrance to Corry Garage will be inaccessible. Patrons can use the front entrance of the garage on Corry Boulevard.
- The Dennis Street entrance to campus, providing access to Corry Garage, Calhoun Garage and CCM Plaza Garage, will be inaccessible. Patrons may use the Corry Boulevard entrance to campus to reach these garages.
- Patrons attempting to enter Calhoun Garage may use the front garage entrance on Corry Boulevard. The back entrance of Calhoun Garage off Calhoun Street will also be open and accessible from Ohio Avenue.
Events on the UC campus affected by changing traffic patterns include the spring football game Bearcat Bowl IV, Relay for Life, Dads' Weekend, Worldfest, and several events at the College-Conservatory of Music.
The City of Cincinnati will post a detour route using Vine Street to channel traffic to West Clifton Avenue.
Metro bus service that normally uses this area will be detoured around the closure. Bus riders should follow instructions posted at their stops or use the nearest stop outside the closure area.
