UC s Pompeii Research Highlighted on National Geographic
University of Cincinnati Classics Professor Steven Ellis and his team of researchers were featured on the
National Geographic Channel in the series When Rome Ruled.
Eight one-hour episodes about Roman history originally aired the week of Dec. 12. Ellis and his excavations in Pompeii were the topic of Monday nights episode. The series will re-air in January.
For more than a decade, Ellis has been studying Pompeii, the ancient Roman site where a volcano eruption buried the entire city in 79 AD. In the episode, he will walk through his main digging area,
, and discuss various artifacts and discoveries about ancient urban life.
