A&S 4+1 Programs Give Students 2 Degrees in 5 Years

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, people who earn a master’s degree earn up to $2.5 million more in their lifetime than those with only a high school education. Master’s degree holders make $400,000 more in a lifetime than those with bachelor’s degrees.

The McMicken College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati is rolling out programs in many of its departments to offer

4+1 degrees

–an option that allows students to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years.

“A graduate degree provides for a very significant increase in an individual’s earning power over their lifetime, and graduate degrees are becoming gateway degrees for entry into many professions,” says Robert Frank, associate dean for research and graduate affairs. “Being able to complete the bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years places the student at a competitive advantage in the job market, and may advantage those interested in admission to doctoral programs.”
