'Russia and Beyond' in UC Clermont s Theatre

Russia and Beyond

  will be presented March 4 and 5 in UC Clermont College’s Krueger Auditorium. Experience the mysterious sounds of the

balalaika

(a traditional Russian triangular 3-stringed instrument) and the expressive range of the piano in this exuberant collaboration. This show includes dance tunes, classical music, gypsy melodies and Russian folk songs. The audience becomes an essential part of the concert, by singing and playing Russian percussion instruments on stage with Russian Duo.

 

 

Calico Children’s Theatre is a UC Clermont community initiative geared toward families with children ages 3-13 years of age. The cost of tickets per performance is: $6 for adults and $4 for children, seniors and UC students. Performances are approximately one hour in length.

•   Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m.

•   Saturday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m.

 

Stay after the performance on Saturday, Feb. 5 to participate in a Calico Creativities Workshop that complements the performance. The cost of tickets per workshop is $4 per child and parents are free. Workshops are approximately one hour in length.

 

Troika! (workshop)

Presented by Russian Duo

Recommended for grades K-5

 

•   Saturday, March 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Krueger Auditorium

 

There is nothing more quintessentially Russian than the three-horse-drawn carriage known as

troika

. This workshop centers around the era in Russia when

troikas

were used. Participants will understand the context and significance of the

troika

. And will learn the famous dance

“Troika”

and perform it to music.
