A&S 4+1 Programs Give Students 2 Degrees in 5 Years
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, people who earn a masters degree earn up to $2.5 million more in their lifetime than those with only a high school education. Masters degree holders make $400,000 more in a lifetime than those with bachelors degrees.
The McMicken College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati is rolling out programs in many of its departments to offer
an option that allows students to earn a bachelors and masters degree in five years.
A graduate degree provides for a very significant increase in an individuals earning power over their lifetime, and graduate degrees are becoming gateway degrees for entry into many professions, says Robert Frank, associate dean for research and graduate affairs. Being able to complete the bachelors and masters degree in five years places the student at a competitive advantage in the job market, and may advantage those interested in admission to doctoral programs.
So far, 15 of the 20 A&S departments offer 4+1 degrees. Programs include:
