Summer Camp Scholarships Available for High Schoolers Interested in Fashion, Industrial Design, Graphic Design
The University of Cincinnatis design programs are
and
ranked, drawing students from around the nation and world.
These top-ranked programs are offering rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in
- Fashion design,
- Industrial (product) design,
-
Graphic design communications.
Summer 2011 design camps in each of the subject areas will be offered at the UCs College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). Participants will work with UC design faculty to experience a broad range of actual design curriculum and to complete real-world projects that will be exhibited at the end of the camp.
The camps will be offered
Sunday thru Saturday, June 19-25, 2011.
Each camp is a week-long, residential program, with housing offered in the residence hall within UCs Campus Recreation Center, designed by Pritzker Prize winner Thom Mayne.
Each camp is limited to 20 participants
who will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Total cost for each participant is $1,250 which will cover all educational and materials costs as well as room and board.
A LIMITED NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO COVER THE COST OF THE CAMPS

A 2011 graduate of design, UC alum Charley Hudak has seen his career trajectory go from intern to creative director for Tiger Woods' new athletic footwear brand, Sun Day Red. While he may run with the biggest cat in golf, Hudak doesn't forget his Bearcat roots and comes back each summer to teach youth about footwear design at DAAP Camps.

St. Lawrence Park in Price Hill now has free Wi-Fi and a furnished outdoor space for community members to access digital needs. The space is part of The Nodes Project, which stands for “Neighborhoods of Design Engagement": a collaboration between UC DAAP communication designers and community entities.
