University of Cincinnati Holds Commencement Exercises on June 11
The University of Cincinnati celebrates All-University Commencement during two ceremonies on Saturday, June 11, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena. The Doctoral Hooding and Masters Recognition Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, in Fifth Third Arena. All ceremonies will be led by UC President Gregory H. Williams.

Processional begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 11

Processional begins at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 11
Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center
McMicken College of Arts & Sciences (A&S); College of Allied Health Sciences; Clermont College; College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS)
The Doctoral Hooding and Masters Recognition Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, in Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Tickets are not required for the events and parking is free in all West Campus garages on June 10 and on June 11.
UCs Office of Institutional Research reports that 4,843 students applied for graduation, earning
514 associate degrees
2,802 baccalaureate degrees
1,156 master degrees
474 doctoral or professional degrees
Total number of degrees (some students earn more than one degree) 4,946
Out of the total number of degrees, 2,314 are from fields in the science, technology, engineering, math and medical (STEMM) areas. The Class of 2011 also includes 171 graduates of Cincinnati Public Schools.

Melissa (Missy) Feltz of Coldwater, Ohio, who is graduating with honors with a bachelor of science in nursing, will deliver the university oration for the morning ceremony.
The university oration for the afternoon ceremony will be delivered by Rodrigo Gerardo, of Brecksville, Ohio. Gerardo is earning a bachelor of science in biological sciences and a minor in chemistry from the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences.
Four UC graduates will be recognized for their achievement of the UC Presidential Leadership Medal of Excellence for their exemplary academics, leadership, character and service. They are Taiwo Adeoye, Ravi Grandhi, Andrew Smith and Shali Zhu.
Commencement
Nationally, job prospects for 2011 grads are looking better than the previous year. A survey conducted by the
National Association of Colleges and Employers
(NACE) indicates that 41 percent of graduates surveyed had received a job offer over the 38 percent reported from the Class of 2010.
Earlier this spring, a NACE survey of employers indicated that the hiring of new college graduates is up 19 percent over last year.
UC College of Business alumnus John F. Barrett, chairman, president and CEO of Western & Southern Financial Group, will address graduates at the June 11 ceremonies. Barrett will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at the 9 a.m. ceremony.
The university will also present honorary degrees to:
Eugene P. Ruehlmann, former Cincinnati mayor and former chair of the Hamilton County Republican Party Central Committee. He will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law during the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Jeff Wyler, president and CEO of Jeff Wyler Automotive Family, Inc. He will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Commercial Science during the 9 a.m. ceremony.
The University of Cincinnati Award for Excellence will be presented to:
John C. Procario, president, CEO and chairman of American Transmission Company (ATC). He will be honored with the University of Cincinnati Award for Excellence during the 2 p.m. ceremony.
After each ceremony, the UC Alumni Association will host a reception for graduates and guests at the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center.
All ceremonies will be webcast by UCs Presentation Technologies & Services Group, marking the 13th year that UCs Commencement can be viewed via the Internet.
