News from the Aviation Technology Program at Clermont College

Justin Heitmeyer soloed in a single-engine aircraft recently. This was Heitmeyer's first flight as a student pilot without his instructor in the aircraft.

Khoa Nguyen also earned his Private Pilot Certificate. To obtain his Private Certificate, Nguyen passed an oral and a flight exam with a Federal Aviation Administration designated flight examiner.

Additionally, Tim Miller and Eric Lane earned their Instrument Rating on their pilot certificate. Miller and Lane are now approved by the FAA to fly aircraft solely by reference to instruments.

Heitmeyer is the son of Michael Heitmeyer of Bethel. Nguyen is the son of Hop and Joanna Nguyen of West Chester. Lane is the son of Gregory and Patricia Lane of Covington, KY.

These students are enrolled in the Aviation Technology: Professional Pilot Program at UC Clermont College. The laboratory portion of the Professional Pilot Program is taught at the Clermont County Airport.

When Heitmeyer and Nguyen complete the two-year program through UC Clermont, each will have earned an associate of applied science degree and a Commercial Pilot Certificate.

When Miller and Lane complete the two-year program through UC Clermont, each will have also earned an associate of applied science degree and are considering completing a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati.
