Celebrate Oktoberfest with Christian Moerlein and the Department of History
The
McMicken College of Arts and Sciences
welcomes Christian Moerlein Brewing Company President and CEO Greg Hardman in celebrating Oktoberfest with Christian Moerlein in support of the
. Professor David Stradling will give a brief history of the relationship between Cincinnati and the brewing industry, with special attention paid to German heritage and the ethnic enclave in Over-the-Rhine. He'll also discuss the deterioration of local brands in the 1970s up to the current revival local breweries are now experiencing. Hardman will then say a few words about the place of beer in Cincinnati today and talk about the return to health of storied brands like Christian Moerlein.
A range of light snacks will be provided during the beer tasting.
Support the history department by joining this celebration of fine beers and local history—the monies generated will go to student scholarship funds.
