News from the Aviation Technology Program at Clermont College

Sophie Gilgean earned her Commercial Pilot Certificate recently. With her Commercial Pilot Certificate, Gilgean is now approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly aircraft for compensation. Gilgean is the daughter of Philippe Gilgean and Evelyne Finet of Belgium.

Ryan Kranich and Justin Heitmeyer also earned their Recreational Pilot Certificate. To obtain their Recreational Certificate, Kranich and Heitmeyer passed an oral and a flight exam with a FAA designated flight examiner. Kranich is the son of Jodi Primner of Jefferson.

Additionally, Ryan Marler earned his Instrument Rating on his pilot certificate. With his Instrument Rating, Marler is now approved by the FAA to fly aircraft solely by reference to instruments.

These students are enrolled in the Professional Pilot Program at UC Clermont College. The laboratory portion of the Professional Pilot Program is taught at the Clermont County Airport.

When Gilgean and Marler complete the two-year program through UC Clermont, each will have also earned an associate of applied science degree and are considering completing a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati.

When Kranich and Heitmeyer complete the two-year program through UC Clermont, each will have earned an associate of applied science degree and a Commercial Pilot Certificate.
