Rec Center Offers On-Campus Spring Break Camp for Kids

Drew Salvador, Coordinator for Camps & Intramurals at the Rec Center, is planning activities for kids ages 5-12 that week. “We have a lot of fun stuff up lined up for Spring Break week this year. Our campers are going to compete in challenges including capture the flag, camper trivia, and a lot more.”

In addition, campers will get to swim in the Rec Center’s leisure pool every day, conquer the 28’ and 40’ climbing walls, make arts and crafts, and play other sports such as kickball, dodgeball, and floor hockey.  “We’re going to have a great time exploring UC’s campus. There are so many places we can visit and utilize. We can play games on Sigma Sigma – weather permitting, eat lunch at TUC, and spend time in Nippert Stadium, too. The campus offers a lot of flexibility and variety for us,” Salvador says.

REC Kids Spring Break Camp offers parents a great option for their kids during the Cincinnati Public School’s spring break, March 26-30. Jayme Johnson, UC employee and father of a camper, tells us, “This camp works really well with my schedule. Since camp personnel allow drop offs starting at 7:30 a.m. and pick-ups as late as 5:30 p.m., I can bring my daughter in when I come to work and pick her up on my way home with ease.”

Interested parents should contact Drew Salvador at 513-556-0603 to register, or go to the Campus Rec Center’s REC Kids web page for more information. He would also like everyone to know that the camp program has continued to grow these last few years. “We are contacted as early as December to get some campers signed up for REC Kids Summer Camp. So please, if you’d like to register, do so early!”
