Stanford Professor to Present Analysis of Public Health Policy
The University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business presents the 21st Annual E. Leonard Arnoff Memorial Lecture on the practice of management science.
The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the Lindner College of Business, Robert and Rose Fealy Auditorium, room 112, in the Carl H. Lindner Hall on UCs campus.
Margaret Brandeau, Coleman F. Fung Professor of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University, is the guest speaker. Her talk, entitled Operations Research and Public Health: A Little Help Can Go a Long Way, centers on model-based analysis of public health policy questions about immunizations and treatment resources.
The Stanford University Center for Health Policy (CHP) and the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR) faculty fellow is an operations researcher and policy analyst with extensive background in the development of applied mathematical and economic models. As a distinguished investigator of HIV, her AIDS research, funded chiefly through the State of California University-wide AIDS Research Program and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, has focused on using mathematical and economic models to assess the value of different HIV and drug abuse interventions.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems in the Lindner College of Business, its Alumni Board of Governors, the Cincinnati/Dayton Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) chapter and the UC INFORMS student chapter.
