Spring Reception Celebrates the Vast Publishing Talent of UC Faculty
University of Cincinnati Libraries celebrates the publishing talent of UC faculty with the 26th annual Authors, Editors and Composers Reception and Program.
The event, open to invited members of the UC community, will be held from 3:30-5 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center.
The program will honor 285 faculty members who submitted 413 publications from 2011 in formats ranging from articles, books, journals, artwork, photographs, music, poems and more. The published works are in several languages including English, Spanish, German, Greek, Japanese and French.
The published works represent all UC colleges, plus the Division of Professional Practice and UC Libraries.
The event will feature remarks from Dean and University Librarian Victoria A. Montavon and Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning Kristi Nelson.
Three UC faculty will discuss their published works as part of the program:
John K. Alexander, UC professor of History
Alexander will share insights into his book,
Samuel Adams: The Life of an American Revolutionary.
The book sheds new light on the beliefs of America's founding fathers through the insights and revelations of Samuel Adams.
Mary Curran-Hackett, adjunct instructor of English
Curran-Hacket will discuss her book,
The novel blends a mothers faith, a childs bravery and a doctors search for healing in a story about family, faith and love.
Charles R. Doarn, research professor, Family and Community Medicine
Doarn will discuss his article in Mars Exploration Magazine, titled, The International Space Station The First Leg of a Human Mission to Mars, as well as the article, Medical Policy Development for Human Spaceflight at NASA: An Evolution, published in Aviation, Space, and Environmental Medicine.
Many of the published works from Authors, Editors and Composers will be on public display in Langsam Librarys fourth and fifth floor lobbies from April 18 through June 10.
Authors, Editors & Composers is organized by the University of Cincinnati Libraries and sponsored by Donors to the Libraries Annual Fund.
