UC's Goering Center Taps Former Family Business Owner to Oversee Program Development

Roger Johannigman was a volunteer at UC’s Goering Center for Family & Private Business.

Now, he returns May 1 as program director to oversee the multitude of educational programs offered by the center that caters to family and private business in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business.

Johannigman is no newcomer to family business. He owned and served as president and CEO of Loveland Pet Products, one of the nation’s largest wholesaler-distributors of pet foods and supplies. He and his brother Rob owned and operated the business since 1979 until a successful sale to Bradley Caldwell, Inc., in July 2008.

His business experience in management, planning, financing and more will serve as a resource in his new role at the Goering Center.

“Working day-to-day with family firms allows Roger to meld his executive experience in family business with his passion for education and life-long learning, and his love for the Greater Cincinnati region,” says Lawrence Grypp, Goering Center president.

As part of its scholastic component, the Goering Center offers its members education and leadership forums that outline best practices, share personal experiences and tackle issues facing small and family business owners. Johannigman will help develop the curriculum content of these events.

Johannigman has served on many local and national non-profit boards, including Easter Seals Work Resource Center, Employers Resource Association, The Jesuit Spiritual Center in Milford and the Pet Industry Distributors’ Association.

Johannigman, a native Cincinnatian and adjunct professor of management and organizational behavior at the College of Mt. St. Joseph, is a graduate of Harvard University and received an MBA from Xavier University.
