Princeton Review Declares UC Professor Among Best in the Nation

UC students who take a class from Professor LisaMarie Luccioni describe her as a passionate teacher who can make a three-hour lecture feel like 30 minutes.

Those student sentiments were among the reasons Luccioni, an adjunct professor of communication, has been named by

The Princeton Review

as one of the best undergraduate teachers in the country.

Luccioni, who teaches business etiquette and professional image courses to students in the Lindner Honors-PLUS program in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business and communications classes in the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences at UC, is profiled in The Best 300 Professors (Random House/Princeton Review Books, $19.99) published April 3, 2012.

“I’m thrilled to be selected as one of 300 ‘Best Professors,’” says Luccioni, professor of communication for 25 years, certified etiquette expert and one of fewer than 100 Certified Image Professionals in the United States. "It's a validation of the teaching-learning experience. I arrived here fall quarter in 1986 as a freshmen communication student and now, more than 25 years later, I'm still in our UC classrooms sharing what I know, but always learning from my students."

The Princeton Review partnered with RateMyProfessor.com, a top college professor ratings site, to develop the list of esteemed professors. To cultivate the list, data is collected from students at thousands of colleges across the country—and abroad— about their classroom experiences and assessments of their professor. The featured professors made the cut from an initial 42,000 for consideration.

In the profile on Luccioni, the Princeton Review cited her “genuine concern for students to succeed and her unique Business Etiquette & Professional Image course that culminates in a five-course formal meal at a high-end restaurant to demonstrate skill in real-world settings.”

The book’s prestigious roster of top teachers features professors from 122 colleges and universities across the nation and teach in more than 60 fields that range from accounting to neuroscience to sport management. In Ohio, Luccioni is among 17 professors from four colleges who made the list.
