UC Celebrates Queercat Pride Week

The University of Cincinnati LGBTQ community and allied friends will celebrate diversity throughout Queercat Pride Week from Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 4.

Queercat Pride Week is sponsored by UC’s LGBTQ Center, UC Alliance, GenderBloc, Colors of Pride, UC Women’s Center, Student Wellness Center, Student Government, the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development, and the United Black Student Association.

Scheduled events include:

Monday, April 30

• Rainbow Flash Mob, 11:50 a.m. on MainStreet, UC campus
• Queer Movie Monday, 7:00 p.m. in Room 500 Swift Hall

Tuesday, May 1

• Ally Day, including the Purple People Eater Picnic, 12:30 p.m. on McMicken Commons
• A lecture, “Sara Montiel as a Gay Icon in Theatre, Cinema and Literature within the Hispanic World Today,” will be presented 4:30 p.m. in the College-Conservatory of Music Baur Room
• Genny Beemyn, director of the Stonewall Center at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will speak at 6:00 p.m. in Room 301 Braunstein
• Queer Game Night 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Residence Hall

Wednesday, May 2

• Ally Day II
• Free HIV Testing from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Room 415 Tangeman University Center
• Two events at Baba Budan’s on McMillan: UC Monologues (Open Minded Mic Night) at 7:00 p.m. and Alternative to the Alternative Dance Party at 9:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 3

• Queer Zumba w/ Carlos Gooden, 12:30 p.m. on  McMicken Commons
• (Un)heard: Transmasculine People of Color Speak! / Building Solidarity: An LGBTQ-Focused Anti-Racism Workshop .6:00 p.m., in the African American Cultural and Resource Center, with a gallery display at start of program.

Friday, May 4

• Same-Sex Hand Holding Day
• Genderf*ck Drag Show at 9:00 p.m. in the Tangeman University Center Catskeller
• Guerilla Queer Bar will follow the drag show, at a location to be announced.
