Cougars Teaching Cougars
The UC Clermont Cougars had some fun sharing their volleyball knowledge and interacting with some fellow Cougars the Clark Montessori varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams.
Clark Montessori is a Cincinnati public school and is located in Hyde Park. The volleyball team is a member of the Miami Valley Conference and has had much recent success in the small school division of the conference. Head Coach Brian Lowe asked the Clermont squad to conduct a clinic for his Clark student athletes.
UC Clermont alum Cindy Votel (Bellevue High School) joined current Cougars Rachel Ferguson (Norwood High School), Becca Walton (Mother of Mercy) and Head Coach Joe Harpring as the instructor team. The team covered basic fundamentals and advanced topics during the two-day session.
The experience was a positive one for the Clermont players, as senior tri-captain Rachel Ferguson relates. Working with the Clark girls has been a blast, she said. I love being able to see our coaching working in front of our eyes. It is awesome to see how eager to learn these girls were, said Ferguson.
The UC Clermont volleyball players now turn their attention to preparations for the start of the 2012 season. They open the campaign at home against Miami University-Middletown on Tuesday, Aug. 21. Game time is 6 p.m. in the Student Activities Center.
