News from the Aviation Technology Program at UC Clermont

Richard "R.J." Davis Jr. earned his Commercial Pilot Certificate recently. With his Commercial Pilot Certificate, Davis is now approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly aircraft for compensation.

Cheikh Kane and Katie Dempsey also earned their Recreational Pilot Certificate. To obtain their Recreational Certificate, both passed an oral and a flight exam with an FAA designated flight examiner. Kane is a resident of Cincinnati. Dempsey is the daughter of Mark and Rosella Dempsey of Chesterland, OH.

Alex Calloway earned his Private Pilot Certificate. To obtain his Private Certificate, Calloway passed an oral and a flight exam with an FAA designated flight examiner. Calloway is a resident of Kenwood.

Additionally, Robert Muirheid earned his Instrument Rating on his pilot certificate. With his Instrument Rating, Muirheid is now approved by the FAA to fly aircraft solely by reference to instruments. Muirheid is the son of Robert Muirheid Sr. and Wanda Clark of Cleves.

These students are enrolled in the Aviation Technology: Professional Pilot Program at UC Clermont College. The laboratory portion of the Professional Pilot Program is taught at the Clermont County Airport.

When Davis completes the two-year program through the University of Cincinnati, he will have earned an associate of applied science degree and is considering completing a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati.

When Kane, Dempsey, Calloway and Muirheid complete the two-year program through UC Clermont, each will have earned an associate of applied science degree and a Commercial Pilot Certificate.
