Nelson C. Vincent Named Interim VP Information Technology & CIO

University of Cincinnati Provost Santa J. Ono has announced that Nelson C. Vincent will serve as Interim Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of UC Information Technologies (UCIT), effective August 1, 2012. Vincent succeeds Mike Lieberman, who has decided to step down from his role as UCIT’s Interim VP & CIO.

Vincent, a UC alumnus, has served as associate dean for research in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) since 2004. In addition to managing research activities, he was responsible for leading the College’s Academic Information Technology services, resources and support. CECH is widely considered a trailblazer for its innovative and integrative use of technology in teaching, learning and research, and Dr. Vincent has helped to build this national reputation from the bottom up.

“I am honored to serve our university community in this new capacity,” Vincent said. “Working collaboratively with information technology professionals across campus, we will reinforce UC’s commitment to become a first-choice destination for students, faculty and staff by driving cutting edge technology that will advance education and research.”

Vincent has served on numerous technology-related working groups across the university including the Academic Technology Planning Committee, the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Academic Information Technology and the Blue Ribbon Sub-Task Force on IT Governance.

The decision to relaunch a national search for a permanent CIO will be made at a later date, Provost Ono said.
