Deadline for Voter Registration is Oct. 9

It’s election time again, notes Greg Vehr, UC Vice President for Governmental Relations and University Communications.

"A last-minute reminder about voting and voter registration is appropriate as the deadline in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana is October 9," Vehr said.

Election Day this year is Tuesday, Nov. 6.  Voter registration can be accomplished through the Secretary of State websites in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Voter registration information can be found at the following web sites:

Ohio:

http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/elections.aspx

Kentucky:

http://sos.ky.gov/elections/

Indiana:

To register to vote in Hamilton County, go to http://boe.hamilton-co.org/ or call 513-632-7000.

Voter registration forms are also available at the University of Cincinnati campuses at the One Stop Center in University Pavilion, the information desk in Tangeman University Center, and at all UC Libraries.

The University of Cincinnati will also facilitate student voting by providing "letters of residence," particularly for those students living in residence halls.

"Each election cycle, we activate a utility which allows students to log in to the One Stop system, and generate a PDF letter that affirms their current local Ohio address," said UC Registrar Douglas K. Burgess. "Students can present this letter to the polling stations as proof of an Ohio residence. We will send an e-mail notification to students when the utility is actually live."

It is expected the letter-generating utility will be live around Oct. 1. In addition to the email, a link to the utility will appear of the One Stop web page.
